UB Women's Basketball Falls, 72-67, At Adelphi In 2011-12 Season Opener
Bridgeport's Aziza Patterson Leads All Scorers With 24 Points
Garden City, N.Y.-Sophomore Aziza Patterson (Teaneck, N.J.) scored a game-high 24 points to lead three Bridgeport players in double-digit scoring, but it was not enough for the Purple Knights as UB women's basketball team dropped its 2011-12 season opener at Adelphi, 72-67, on Saturday afternoon.
Patterson had a strong all-round game with 24 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals, and she was joined in double figures by senior Elinor Avny (Raanaana, Israel) with 14 points and junior Tanisha Carter (East Hartford, Conn.) with 13 points. Carter and sophomore Milena Lazarevic (Gmunden, Austria) led the Purple Knights on the boards with seven rebounds apiece. Lazarevic also chipped in eight points.
Sade Jackson led Adelphi with 19 points.
Bridgeport returns to action on Sunday as they play their 2011-12 home opener versus Pace. Game time in Hubbell Gym is set for 6:00 p.m.
