Kelly Keil Leads Purple Knights With 25 Points And 17 Rebounds
Bridgeport, Conn.-Senior Kelly Keil (Sparta, N.J.) led the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team to its sixth straight win with by scoring a game-high 25 points, grabbing a game-high and personal single-game season high 17 rebounds and blocking four shots as the host Purple Knights defeated the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights, 67-59, in an East Coast Conference contest on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Bridgeport is now 15-11 overall and 13-6 in conference play. UB has last now won nine of its last 10 games. Queens falls to 10-16 overall and 9-10 in the ECC.
Joining Keil in double-figure scoring for the winners were senior Ivana Savic (Belgrade, Serbia) with 13 points, as she hit five of six field goals, and sophomore Elsebeth Birman (Silver Spring, Md.) who scored 14 points.
Chloe Johnson led three Queens' players in double figures with 17 points.
Bridgeport will look to up its winning streak to seven on games Wednesday night when the Purple Knights travel to conference-leader St. Thomas Aquinas. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
