Kelly Keil Notches A Double-Double With 21 Points And !! Rebounds
Bridgeport, Conn.-Senior Kelly Keil (Sparta, N.J.) had a double-double scoring 21 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds to help the University of Bridgeport women's basketball team defeat the East Coast Conference-leading St. Thomas Aquinas Lady Spartans, 72-59, on Saturday afternoon. Keil also blocked four shots, had two assists and recorded one steal for the Purple Knights, who are now on a three-game winning streak. UB raises its overall record to 9-10, and its conference mark 7-5. STAC is now 15-5 overall and 11-2 in the ECC.
Keil was joined in double-figure scoring by sophomore Elsebeth Birman (Silver Spring, Md.) with points, and junior Julia Colley (Harlow, England) with 10 points. Birman also chipped in six assists and had two steals; while Colley added eight rebounds, three assists and one steal.
St. Thomas Aquinas' Theresa Dowling led all scorers in the game with 25 points; so of which came in the first half.
Bridgeport is back in action on Monday night at Queens (N.Y.) College. Action gets underway in New York City at 5:00 pm.
