Mercy Women Comeback To Post 75-71 Win Over UB
Mavericks Outscore Purple Knights, 8-0, In Game's Final 2:35
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.-The Mercy College women's basketball team held the University of Bridgeport scoreless over the final 2:35 of the game, and the Mavericks closed out the contest on an 8-0 run on their way to a 75-71 home East Coast Conference win on Saturday afternoon. The win lifts Mercy's overall record to 4-10, and the Mavericks are now 2-7 in conference play. Bridgeport falls to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in the ECC.
Mercy's Jasmine Williams led four Mavericks in double-figure scoring with a game-high 24 points.
Four Purple Knights reached double figures led by junior Edna Marant (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 20 points. Marant was joined in double digits by junior Julia Colley (Harlow, England) with 19 points, sophomore Elsebeth Birman (Silver Spring, Md.) with 11 points and junior Ivy Morrison (Topeka, Kan.) with 10 points.
Bridgeport will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night at Molloy College. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
