UB Women Lead Wire-To-Wire In 51-45 Win At C.W. Post
Purple Knights Have Now Won Three Of Their Last Four Games
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team never trailed in the game as they posted a 51-45 East Coast Conference win over the C.W. Post Pioneers on Monday night. UB opened the game on a 5-0 run that increased to a 15-2 margin six minutes into the contest. Bridgeport led by 10 points 29-19, at the half. The Pioneers would come no closer than a five point deficit in the second half. With the win, the Purple Knights are now 6-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Bridgeport has now won three of its last four games. CWP is now 6-6 overall and also 4-3 in the ECC.
Senior Kelly Keil (Sparta, N.J.), this week's East Coast Conference Player of the Week, led Bridgeport with a double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Kelly also blocked a season-high eight shots in the win. Keil was joined in double figures by classmate Elinor Avny (Raanaana, Israel) who also netted 14 points, and sophomore Elsebeth Birman (Silver Spring, Md.)who scored 10 points.
The Pioneers had three players score in double figures led by Janea Aiken with a game-high 15 points.
UB is next scheduled to be in action on Wednesday night when they host Dowling College. Game time in Hubbell Gym is set for 5:00 p.m.
