Bridgeport's Cherlynn Townsend Named ECC Softball Elite 18 Winner

Brookville, N.Y. - Cherlynn Townsend (Jr., Hurst, Texas) of the University of Bridgeport was honored as the ECC Elite 18 Award winner for the sport of softball at Friday's All-Conference awards ceremony. The ECC Elite 18 honor is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average competing in each of the ECC's 18 championships.
Townsend is a junior Health Sciences major who carries a near perfect 3.99 GPA. On the field, Townsend finished with a .222 batting average with 10 hits in 45 at-bats. She also smacked one double, one homerun, and drove in five runs.
