Dobbs Ferry. N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team dropped both ends of an East Coast Conference road doubleheader at Mercy College on Sunday, as the Purple Knights fell in game one, 5-1, and lost the nightcap, 7-4. UB is now 12-16 overall and 1-7 in the ECC, and Mercy ups its season record to 13-10, and the Mavericks are 3-5 in conference action.
In the opener, Bridgeport scored its only run on a seventh inning solo home run by sophomore Allison Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.).
In game two, sophomore Samantha Sabor (Plainfield, Ill.) had two hits and drove in a pair of runs, and senior Yalitza Rodriguez (Freeport, N.Y.) launched a solo homer.
Up next, the UB softball team will look to snap a five-game losing skid on Tuesday afternoon when the Purple Knights are schedule to host St. Thomas Aquinas in Seaside Park. First pitch for the doubleheader is slated for 2:30 p.m.
