Clermont, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport softball team brought out the big bats on Tuesday night, as the Purple Knights raised their season mark to 9-2 with wins over St. Michael's College (0-4), 13-9, and Franklin Pierce University (0-5), 9-1, in five innings.
In the win of the other Purple Knights of St. Michael's, sophomore Jenna DiLorenzo (Woodbridge, Conn.) blasted a pair of two-run home runs, and junior Gabryelle Dubois (Carlisle, Iowa) and sophomore Kamryn Beach (Tampa, Fla.) also went deep. Dubois
In the pitching department in Tuesday's opener, freshman Ashley Eisnor (Medford, Mass.) worked into the fifth inning to earn the win, and Kaitlyn Lajoie (Vernon, Conn.) ended a St. Mike's rally to pick up a save.
In the win over Franklin Pierce, junior Yalitza Rodriguez (Freeport, N.Y.) hit a home run, as she went 3-for-3 and had two runs batted in, and senior pitcher Alyssa Bua (Cornwall, N.Y.) fired a complete game to earn her third victory of 2017.
Against the Ravens, the Purple Knights had 13 hits as team. Senior Meghan O'Leary (Lafayette, N.J.) had three hits, and Beach had two hits and three RBI.
After taking Wednesday off, the UB softball team will return to the diamond in the Sunshine State on Thursday when they face Ohio Dominican and Seton Hill.
