Old Westbury, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team saw its 2016 season come to end on Friday afternoon in the East Coast Conference Championship Tournament, as the LIU Post Pioneers scored a run in the bottom of sixth inning and kept the Purple Knights off the scoreboard in the seventh inning to post a 3-2 victory and stay alive in the double-elimination tournament. Bridgeport, making its first conference tournament appearance since 2008, wraps up the season at 19-30 overall. LIU Post is now 35-12-1.
Trailing 2-0 entering the top of the sixth, UB tied the game at 2-2 when junior Kerri Agrela (Smithfield, R.I.) was hit by a pitch with the base loaded followed by a LIU Post error.
Senior Kaila Crandall (Little Rock, Calif.) had two hits on the day for the Purple Knights.
