Game 1
NYIT
Old Westbury, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team lost both ends of an East Coast Conference doubleheader at NYIT on a cold Tuesday afternoon on Long Island, falling game one, 3-0, and losing game two, 8-5. The Purple Knights are now 7-19 overall and 2-10 in conference play. With the sweep, the host Bears are now 16-8 overall and a strong 7-1 in the ECC
In the opener, junior Alyssa Bua (Cornwall, N.Y.) pitched her fifth straight complete game, but she was the hard-luck loser allowing only one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts and only two walks. The Bridgeport offense was limited to only three hits in game one.
In game two, the Purple Knights trailed 5-0, but their rally fell just short. Junior Kerri Agrela (Smithfield, R.I.) and freshman Stephanie Dean (Old Lyme, Conn.), each had two hits and drove in a run for UB in the nightcap.
The Bridgeport softball team is right back in action on Wednesday afternoon at home in Seaside Park, as the Purple Knights host AIC in a non-conference doubleheader.
