Softball Nipped Twice By Felician
Team Back In ECC Action At St. Thomas Aquinas On Thursday Afternoon
Stratford, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball team lost two one-run games on Wednesday afternoon at DeLuca Field in Stratford, as the Purple Knights were swept were swept in a non-conference doubleheader by the visiting Felician College Golden Falcons, 7-6, in game one, and 10-9, n game two. UB is now 17-27 overall. Felician ups its overall mark to 15-27.
In game one, UB graduate student Emma Wojcik (Warsaw, Poland) blasted a solo home run, and sophomore Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, N.Y.) had three hits. Senior Stephanie Pearce (Surry, England) and sophomores Jade Blair (West Deptford, N.J.), Sydney Phillips (Sebastopol, Calif.) plus Jessica Griesinger (Brewster, N.Y.), each had two hits in the opener.
In the nightcap, freshman McKenzie Shea (Spokane Valley, Wash.) hit two home runs and drove in five runs, as she banged out three hits. Stephanie Pearce also went deep for the Purple Knights in game two, and Jessica Griesinger had three hits and two RBI.
The UB softball team is right back in action on Thursday afternoon as they will look to snap a three-game losing skid (all by one run) at St. Thomas Aquinas College. The ECC doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
