UB Softball Splits An ECC Doubleheader At Queens (N.Y.) College
Purple Knights Win Game One, 7-3, And Fall In Game Two, 2-1
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team split an East Coast Conference doubleheader at Queens (N.Y.) College on Tuesday afternoon, as UB won game one, 7-3, and QC salvaged a split with a 2-1 win in game two.. With the split, Bridgeport is now 17-25 overall and 8-18 in the ECC. Queens is now 13-21 overall and 11-12 in conference action.
In the opener, the Purple Knights scored five runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. Sophomore Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, N.Y.) knocked in three runs for the winners in game one, and sophomore Sydney Phillips (Sebastopol, Calif.) and freshman McKenzie Shea (Spokane Valley, Wash.), each had two hits for UB in game one.
Freshman Jennine Walsh (Langley, B.C., Canada) picked up win number eight of the season in the pitching in the opener allowing on five hits and two earned runs in a complete game performance.
In the nightcap, Bridgeport was limited to only three hits, and Sydney Phillips drove in the team's lone run.
The UB softball team is right back on the diamond on Wednesday afternoon when the Purple Knights host Felician College in a non-conference doubleheader that begins at 3:00 p.m. at DeLuca Field in Stratford.
