UB Splits Non-Conference Softball Doubleheader With Post
Purple Knights Win Game One, 4-3, And Fall In Game Two, 9-1
Stratford, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball split a home non-conference doubleheader with the Post University Eagles on a cold and windy Monday afternoon at DeLuca Field. The Purple Knights won game one. 4-3, and fell in the nightcap, 9-1 in five innings. With the split, UB is now 8-11 overall. Post is now 6-18.
In game one, sophomore Tiffany Irrera (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up the victory pitching her eighth complete game of the season and raising her season record to 6-3. On offense, freshman Jessica Griesinger (Brewster, N.Y.) and Katelyn Wall (Madison, Conn.) each had two hits and one run batted in.
Freshman Morgan Dunn (Cohoes, N.Y.) had Bridgeport's on RBI in game two.
The Purple Knights are right back in action at home on Tuesday afternoon as they return to East Coast Conference action hosting NYIT. Game time at DeLuca Field is set for 3:00 p.m.
