Purple Knights Fall In 13-Inning Marathon To STAC In Game One Of A Doubleheader
Game Two Suspended By Darkness Tied At 1-1
Sparkill, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team lost a marathon 13-inning game to the host St. Thomas Aquinas College Lady Spartans on Wednesday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader, 3-2. Game two of the double dip was suspended by darkness in the top of the fifth inning tied at 1-1. Game two between the two teams will be finished at a later date.
Junior Emma Wojcik (Warsaw, Poland) had three hits and one run batted in game one for UB, and freshman Kelly Olencki (Milford, Conn.) had the other RBI for the Purple Knights. Sophomore Taylor McBeth (Langley, B.C., Canada) added a pair of hits to the Bridgeport offensive attack in game one.
Freshman Chloe Shill (Miami, Fla.) was the hard-luck loser in the opener pitching the entire game (12.2 innings.).
UB will now host Queens (N.Y.) College in a home doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
