Softball Splits At NYIT
Team back In Action On Tuesday At St. Thomas Aquinas
Old Westbury, N.Y.-It was a strange day of softball for the University of Bridgeport at NYIT on Sunday, as the Purple Knights split an East Coast Conference doubleheader, losing game one, 8-3, and winning game two by a 7-0 score due to a forfeit because the Bears could not field enough players after suffering an injury in the third inning. The Purple Knights led the game 7-3 when the game was forfeited after score staring the game with eight hits including two home runs in the first inning. UB is now 6-23 overall and 1-14 in conference play.
In game one, the Purple Knights had eight hits and got RBIs from Taylor McBeth, Nicole Steiner and Tori Tenzyk.
Before game two was called, Taylor McBeth and Kelly Olencki homered.
Bridgeport is back in action at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday afternoon.
