Softball Goes 1-1 On Final Day In Florida
Purple Knights Head Home With a 4-6 Record
Clermont, Fla.-The UB softball team wrapped up its Spring Break trip to Florida on Friday by splitting two games. The Purple Knights opened the day with a 4-1 win over Franklin Pierce, and the team closed out action in the Sunshine State with a 9-1 loss in six innings versus Southern Connecticut State University. Bridgeport heads back North with a 4-6 record. Those four wins equal the Purple Knights victory total from all of last season.
In the win over Franklin Pierce, freshman pitcher Tiffany Irrera (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up her second win of the season allowing only four-hits in a complete game performance.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the top of the sixth, the Purple Knights scored three runs in the frame on a two-RBI bases loaded single by freshman Chole Shill (Miami, Fla,) and a sacrifice fly by sophomore Taylor McBeth (Langley, BC, Canada).
Bridgeport is back in action this Sunday afternoon (March 20) at 1:00 p.m. when UB faces Post University. Sunday's games will be hosted by Post in Waterbury, Conn., and the Purple Knights will play as the home team in both contests
