Softball Drops Season-Opening Doubleheader At SCSU

New Haven, CT-The University of Bridgeport
softball team opened its 2010 campaign on Monday afternoon, and the
Purple Knights were swept in doubleheader at Southern Connecticut
State University (2-0), as the Owls took game one, 8-0, and
completed the sweep with an 8-5 win in the nightcap. Both
games were five-inning affairs.
In game two, freshman Taylor McBeth (Langley,
B.C., Canada) and junior Tori
Tenzyk (Hawthorne, NY) each blasted solo home
runs. Sophomore Katie McMitchell (Port
Coquitlan, B.C., Canada) helped the UB offense in game two with two
RBIs and a double.
Junior Madison Smith (Seekonk, MA) took the
loss for the Purple Knights in game one, and freshman
Alitha Krolikowski (Bristol, CT) was the game two
hard-luck losing pitcher.
Bridgeport will next be in action when the Purple Knights open
their 2010 Spring Trip to Kissimmee, FL against the University of
New Haven on Sunday morning.
