Cross Country Teams Wrap Up 2016 Seasons At ECC Championship Meet
Both Squads Take Seventh Place
Rochester, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their 2016 seasons on Saturday morning at the annual East Coast Conference Championship meet hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College. The UB men finished seventh out of eight teams, and the Bridgeport women also finished in seventh place but out of nine schools.
The top finisher for the Purple Knights men's team was junior Norman Clayton (Bronx, N.Y.), who covered the 8K course in a time of 30:32.5 which was good for 36th scoring place and 47th overall. Sophomore D'vonne Troumbo (Franklinville, N.J.) was the next UB male finisher taking 37th scoring place and 50th overall in a time of 30:40.6.
On the women's side, as she was in every race in 2016, graduate student, Alina Sotnikova (Riga, Latvia) was the team's top runner finishing the 5K course in a time of 21:25.3, good for 32nd scoring place and 38th overall. Freshman Carina Mitchell (Gales Ferry, Conn.) was the next Bridgeport female finisher in a time of 23:20.7 which placed her in 34th scoring position and 47th overall.
