UB Cross Country Teams Take Part In NJIT Highlander Invitational
Men Take 17th-Women Finish In 13th Place
Newark, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport cross country teams competed in the NJIT Highlander Invitational on Saturday morning in New Jersey, and the UB men finished in 17th place out of 21 teams on the day, and Purple Knights' women took 13th place out of 20 teams racing in Newark.
The top finisher for the Bridgeport men was sophomore D'vonne Troumbo (Franklinville, N.J.), who covered the 8K course in time of 31:09:39, good for 75th scoring place.
For the Purple Knights' women, as she been in every race in 2016, graduate student, Alina Sotnikova (Riga, Latvia) was the team's top runner finishing the 5K course in a time of 21:13.24, good for 39th scoring place.
Next Saturday, the UB cross country teams travel to Long Island for the Saint Joseph's (NY) Invitational.
