Track and Field Squads Travel to Boston for David Hemery Valentine Invite
Purple Knights compete in one of their toughest meets of the season.
BOSTON, Mass. – Competing against some of the toughest fields of the season, the University of Bridgeport's track and field teams took part in Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invite on Friday and Saturday.
The men's squad started things on Friday of the competition. Freshman Edoardo Vandelli was once against exceptional as he improved on his indoor PR and school record in the 800-meter. The Italian rookie posted a time of 1:56.76.
John Panzera also performed well with a PR and school record in the high jump (1.93m). The sophomore narrowly finished second in the event only based on misses.
Nickolas Barba joined in with a PR of his own and a season-low time in the 200-meter. The rookie sprinted to a mark of 23.84.
On Saturday, it was Kara Sampath taking the stage for UB. The Jamaica native rattled off a season-best and a new school record in the 400-meter thanks to a time of 1:02.83.
