Purple Knights Continue Strong Performances At BU Swimming Invitational
Action Set To Wrap Up On Sunday
Boston, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport swimming teams took part in day two of the three-day Boston University Invitational on Saturday night, and the UB men finished the evening in fifth place; while women are in the number eight spot, as the Purple Knights are the only non-Division I team competing in the event.
For the Bridgeport women, newcomer Mariia Rezhylo (Kiev, Ukraine) took first place in the 100 Breaststroke on Saturday night after setting a school-record in the event with a time of 1:01,66 in the prelims.
Senior, captain Nina Stegu (Ljublijana, Slovenia) placed second in the women's 200 Free with a time of 1:52.01.
On the men's side, Erik Hren (Jr., Maribor, Slovenia) won the 200 Free in a time of 1:38.20, and senior Wilmar Du Plessis (Bloemfontein, South Africa) placed second in the 100 Back in a time of 49.45.
