UB Swim Teams Wrap Up Pre-Championships Schedule At NYU Invitational
Purple Knights Back In Action On February 17th At Metropolitan Conference Championship Meet
New York, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams took part in their final meet before the championships season begins on Friday, February 17 at this year's Metropolitan Conference Championship Meet in Piscataway, New Jersey competing at the NYU Invitational on Saturday.
On the men's side, freshman Erik Hren (Maribor, Slovenia) won the 200-yard Freestyle in a time of 1:42.71 and classmate Leonard Posa (Zrenjanin, Serbia) took first place in the 100-yard Breaststroke, plus the 200-yard Medley Relay team won its event in a time of 1:38.30.
Senior Didac Matsuyama (Barcelona, Spain) turned in a strong performance on Saturday taking second in the men's 100-yard Butterfly in a time of 52:01.
For the UB women, junior Annagrazia Bonsanti (Caracas, Venezuela) grabbed second place in the 400-yard IM (4:39.60), and sophomore Oksana Marchuk (Mlyniv, Ukraine) took second in the 100-yard Backstroke in a time of 57.71. The women's 200-yard Medley Relay team also took second place in a time of 1:49.40.
The UB swim teams will be back in action on Friday, February 17 when the Purple Knights begin the three-day, 2017 Metropolitan Conference Championship Meet in Piscataway, New Jersey.
