UB Swimming Teams Wrap Up 2016 Portion Of This Season's Schedule At TCNJ Invitational
Men Finish In Third And Women Take Fourth Over The Weekend
Ewing, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport women's and men's swimming teams wrapped up their first semester competition schedule this weekend at the three-day College of New Jersey Invitational in the Garden State. The UB women finished in fourth place out of seven teams with a total of 418 points; while the Bridgeport men took third out of five teams with a total of 407 points. The host Lions of the College of New Jersey won both the women's and men's meets.
The Purple Knight women's team picked up four first place finishes over the weekend with junior Annagrazia Bonsanti (Caracas, Venezuela) taking top honors in the 400 Yard IM (4:27.01) and sophomore Nina Stegu (Ljublijana, Slovenia) capturing the 100 Yard Butterfly (58.61), plus the 200 Yard Free Relay (1:38.28) and the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:47.94) teams topped the podium.
For the Bridgeport men, two swimmers turned in first place individual performances at TCNJ, as junior Brian Kelly (Mahwah, N.J.), swimming in his home state, won the 500 Yard Freestyle (4:36.77), and senior Didac Matsuyama (Barcelona, Spain) won the 200 Yard IM (1:52.97).
Both UB swim teams will return to meet action after the New Year, when the Purple Knights travel to St. Peter's University on Sunday, January 22nd.
