Both UB Swim Teams In Third Place After Day Two At 2016 Metro Championships
Senior Ivan Capan Wins Second Individual Event On Saturday
Piscataway, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams are both in third place after day two of the 2016 Metropolitan Conference Championship Meet taking place on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey on Saturday night The Bridgeport women are right in the thick of the race for the conference title with 740.5 points through two days, as the Purple Knights are only 28 points behind first place The College of New Jersey. LIU Post is in second place with 467 points, 1.5 points out of first. The UB men have a total of 630 points, as Rowan University tops the men's standings with 974 points.
On Saturday, the Bridgeport women took first place in the 800 yard Free Relay with a time of 7:39.21, and sophomore Yekaterina Gakhokidze (Almaty, Kazakhstan) won the 100 yard Back in a time of 55.15.
On the men's side, senior Ivan Capan (Zagreb, Croatia) took his second individual title of the meet grabbing first place in the 100 yard Breaststroke (54.78).
Junior Didac Matsuyama (Barcelona, Spain) took first place in the men's 100 yard Butterfly in a time of 48.43, and the UB men's 200 yard Medley Relay team topped the podium in a time of 1:28.96.
