Swim Teams Wrap Up Successful 2015 NCAA Championship Meet With More All-American Performances On Saturday
Men Finish In 8th Place And Women take 23rd On National Stage
Indianapolis, Indiana.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams, under the direction of first-year head coach Sean Raffile wrapped up a tremendously successful 2015 NCAA Division II National Championship Meet on Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana by earning two more individual All-American honors and turning in one more men's relay All-American performance.
In the team standings, the UB men earned a total of 214.5 points to finish eighth in the final standings out of 32 scoring teams, and the Bridgeport women compiled 42 team points to finish in 23rd place out of 39 scoring squads.
For the UB women on Saturday freshman Annagrazia Bonsanti (Caracas, Venezuela) earned All-America honors by finishing in second place in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 16:50.11 Teammate sophomore Tatiana Shepel (Moscow, Russia) finished in twelfth place in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.01 to take home Honorable Mention All-America accolades.
On the men's side, senior Ruben Gimenez (Burgos, Spain) closed out his phenomenal individual career by swimming a personal best of 43.22 in the 100-yard freestyle to take second place.
The Bridgeport men closed out the meet with strong fifth place finish in the 400-yard Free Relay as the team of Vladislav Paskas, Ivan Capan, Antonio Nunez and Gimenez turned in a time of 2:57.30.
