UB Swimmers Strong On Day One At TCNJ Invitational
Ewing, N.J. - The University of Bridgeport women's and men's swimming teams got off to a strong start on Friday at the The College of New Jersey Invitational which will run through Sunday.
On the women's side, Purple Knights racked up 158 points through Friday evening, positioning them in third place. C.W. Post currently ranks second with 262 points and TCNJ is the leading team with 415 points.
The TCNJ Invite opened with the women's 200-yard freestyle relay where UB took third place with a time of 1:39.18.
In the men's 500 Free, Vlad Paskas won with a time of 4:35.89 (an NCAA B cut). Also turneing in NCAA B cuts in that race were Ikka Hanhineva and Krzystof Wilik.
Oscar Pereiro registered an NCAA B-cut time in the 50-free placing first in the race at 20.50. In the same race, an NCAA B cut time of 20.68 was turned in by Ruben Gimenez.
The men's 400-yard Medley Relay team of Oscar Pereiro, Krzysztof Wilik, Ikka Hanhineva and Vlad Paskas won the event with an NCAA B cut time of 3:23.39
The TCNJ Invitational continues tomorrow with the preliminary heats beginning at 11 a.m. The event finals for tomorrow are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. On Sunday, races will begin at 9 a.m. with the final session starting at 3 p.m.
