Men's Swimming Defeats WPI, 51-42
UB Right Back In Action On Saturday At USMMA Invitational
Worcester, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport men's swimming team topped WPI, 51-42, in a dual meet held at Assumption College on Friday.
Double winner for the Purple Knights were ophomore, captain Oscar Pereiro (Arzua, Spain) in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:45.47) and the 100-yard Butterfly (52.02), freshman Vladislav Paskas (Zrenjanin, Serbia) in the 200-yard Individual Medley (2:07.36) and the100-yard Freestyle(47.49) plus senior Krzysztof Wilik (Krakow, Poland) in the 50-yard Freestyle (22.26 plus the; 500-yard Freestyle (4:47.43).
Other individual winners for the UB men were junior Ilkka Hanhineva (Pietarsaari, Finland) in the 1000-yard Freestyle (9:52.82), sophomore Eddie Phillips (Missouri City, Tea.) in the 100-yard Backstroke (57.69) and sophomore Alejandro Roberto (Badajoz, Canary Islands, Spain) in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:05.34).
The Purple Knights also took relays victories in the 400-yard Medley and the 200-yard Freestyle races.
The Bridgeport men's team is back in action on Saturday at the USMMA Invitational in Kings Point, N.Y.
