Men's Swimming Takes Sixth Place At College of Wooster Invitational
Purple Knights Back In Action At Home This Saturday Afternoon
Wooster, Ohio-The University of Bridgeport men's swimming team finished in sixth place at this weekend's College of Wooster Invitational in Wooster, Ohio. The Purple Knights totaled 692 points over the three-day event. Case Western University tops the men's team standings with a total of 1371.5 points.
Individual event winners for the Bridgeport men on Saturday were senior Piotr Safronczyk (Bialystok, Poland), who captured his third first place of the competition, by winning the 200-yard Breaststroke in a time of 2:06.47 (NCAA "B" Qualifying Time), and sophomore Toni Valcic (Ribnica, Slovenia) who won the 100-yard Free, his second individual event victory, in a time of 46.34 (NCAA "B" Qualifying Time).
The men's 400-yard Free Relay team (Valcic, Nik Savic, Florian Mehlan and Safronczyk) was a first place finisher on Saturday with a time of 3:06.97.
The Purple Knights will be back in the pool at home on Saturday afternoon (December 11) when they host Post University in the Wheeler Recreation Center Natatorium. Action gets underway at 1:00 p.m.
