Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team scored five second half goals on its way to a 6-2 non-conference win over the visiting East Stroudsburg University Warriors in the Purple Knights' 2018 home finale on a windy and chilly Wednesday night at Knights Field. With the victory, Bridgeport is now 9-4-1 overall and unbeaten in their last five outings. With the loss, ESU slips to 9-6-0 overall.
Bridgeport got two goals apiece from juniors Leandro Avila (Panama City, Panama) and Nikolai Vadseth (Langevaag, Norway) on the night. Both players now have scored eight goals so far in 2018.
Avila's two goals gave UB a 3-2 lead which the team never relinquished, as he found the back of the net at the 61:19 and 62:52 marks.
Also scoring goals for the Purple Knights on Wednesday were freshmen Tom Godden (Leeds, England) and Oscar Facey (Trangsund, Sweden).
Facey also added an assist in the win to give him three points on the night. Also adding assists for the winners were Erlend Skagestad (Jr., Mjoendalen, Norway), Lucas Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Yoel Salvador (Bridgeport, Conn.) and freshman Odhran Casey (Derry, Northern Ireland).
Up next, the Purple Knights will close out their 2018 season at Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon. Match time is slated for 5:00 p.m. in Rochester, New York.
