Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team got goals from three different players on Homecoming Saturday, as the Purple Knights earned a key 3-1 East Coast Conference win over the visiting Daemen College Wildcats. With the victory which snaps a two-match losing skid, UB is now 6-4-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the ECC. The Wildcats are now 4-7-0 overall and 2-3-0 in conference play.
The Purple Knights grabbed a 2-0 lead at the half on first half markers by freshman Oscar Facey (Trangsund, Sweden) off an assist from junior Nikolai Vadseth (Langevaag, Norway) and a beautiful header from senior Andrew Quintos (Kearny, N.J.) off a Facey free kick.
After Daemen scored in the 65th to narrow the gap to 2-1, Vadseth would salt the match away with his sixth goal of 2018 off another assist from Facey and an added helped from junior Erlend Skagestad (Mjoendalen, Norway).
Up next, the UB men's soccer team will travel to Long island for another key ECC contest next Saturday at NYIT. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
