Bridgeport, Conn.-The visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans scored the match's only goal off a long throw in into the box in the 53rd of play to pick up a 1-0 East Coast Conference win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon in the Park City. With the victory, STAC is now 6-2-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the ECC. UB is now 5-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play.
Perhaps the Purple Knights best chance of the day came as the first half was coming to a close when junior Yoel Salvador (Bridgeport, Conn.) had his shot cleared off the line by a STAC defender as time expired.
UB freshman goalkeeper Carlos Tofern (Hamburg, Germany) kept his team in the match all day by making five saves.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team will travel to our Nation's Capital on Wednesday afternoon when they face the University of the District of Columbia in an ECC contest. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
