Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team fell to the visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks, 4-1, in an East Coast Conference match on Saturday evening in the Park City. UB is now 2-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in ECC play so far in 2017. Saturday's victory was RWC's first win of the year, as they are now 1-5-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
The match was a frustrating one for the Purple Knights, as they outshot the visitors, 19-9, but could only find the back of the net one time. The hosts also had an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Redhawks held a 1-0 lead at the half, but Bridgeport tied the game just under 10 minutes into the second half when sophomore Nikolai Vadseth (Langevaag, Norway) buried his second goal of the season on a long distance shot into the top of the net.
Unfortunately for UB fans, Roberts Wesleyan would score three goals in the final 26 minutes of action to come away with the win, as Marko Mitrevski had two goals on the night and Terrell Spencer had a goal and three assists for the winners.
Up next, the Bridgeport men's soccer team will look get back in the win column when they travel to Queens (N.Y.) College for an East Coast Conference match next Saturday afternoon. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
