Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team scored an early goal and held on from there, as the Purple Knights posted a 1-0 East Coast Conference home win over the visiting Daemen College Wildcats on a blustery Sunday afternoon at Knights Field. UB is now 2-10-2 overall plus 2-3-2 in the ECC, and Daemen finishes its 2016 season at 2-15-0 and 0-9-0 in conference play.
Freshman Erland Skagestad (Mjoendalen, Norway) scored the only goal of the day, when he put home his first collegiate marker just 1:41 into play off a cross to the far post from senior Luis Fajardo (Danbury, Conn.).
Bridgeport senior goalkeeper Fabio Junior (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) made three saves to record his first shutout of 2016.
The Purple Knights' defense had a strong afternoon limiting the Wildcats to only nine shots. UB took 14 shots in the match.
