Bridgeport, Conn.-Anthony Cestaro scored his second goal of the match off an assist from Kyle Poetzsch with 1:36 remaining in the first overtime to lift the visiting Molloy College Lions to a hard-fought 2-1 win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon in the Park City. The win keeps Molloy unbeaten in East Coast Conference play at 6-0-0, and the Lions are 9-2-0 overall. UB, which played its third consecutive overtime match, is now 0-3-2 in the ECC and 0-9-2 overall.
Cestaro scored his first goal of the match late in the first half to give the Lions a 1-0 lead at the halftime break, but the scrappy Purple Knights battled back to tie the match at 1-1 and send it into overtime, when junior Femi Coker (Johannesburg, South Africa) scored his third goal of the year with just over two minutes to play in regulation. The Purple Knights outshot the Lions, 7-5, in the second 45 minutes of action.
UB senior goalkeeper Fabio Junior (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) played perhaps his best match the 2016 season making six saves on the day, including several point blank stops to keep his team in the contest.
Up next, the Bridgeport men's soccer team steps out of conference play to face on Concordia (N.Y.) College at home on Tuesday night. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
