UB Travels To Southern Conneticut State University On Wednesday Night
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team continued to struggle on offense in the early part of the 2016 season, as the Purple Knights fell to 0-4 on the year, as UB dropped its third 1-0 decision in four matches. This time, Bridgeport fell to number fifteen-ranked Merrimack College in the final match of the 2016 UB Men's Soccer Classic. Merrimack is now 3-1 in 2016.
Merrimack's Lars Sund scored the only goal of the match 28:21 into action in the first half off an assist from Connor O'Brien.
On the night, the visiting Warriors outshot the host Purple Knights, 18-10, as each team took the same number of shots in each half; nine by Merrimack and five by Bridgeport.
Tyler Packett made four saves to record the shutout, including a huge stop on UB freshman Nikolai Vadseth (Langevaag, Norway) in the first half.
Bridgeport keeper senior Fabio Junior (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) made five stops in his season debut.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team opens a tough five-match road trip at local rival Southern Conneticut State University. Kickoff in New Haven is set for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14.
