Bridgeport, Conn.-After leading 2-1 following the first quarter, the visiting Molloy College Lions scored six unanswered goals in the second quarter to take an 8-1 lead at the half on their way to a 13-3 non-conference men's lacrosse win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Knights Field. UB is no1 1-3 on the season, while Molloy moves to 4-2.
University of Bridgeport junior goalkeeper Peter Nazario (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was outstanding on Saturday making a whopping 25 saves as he faced a total of 54 Lions' shots.
Sophomore Tyne Hewlette (Bayshore, N.Y.) had two goals for the Purple Knights on Saturday to give him a team-high seven on the season.
Freshman John Monaco (Farmingville, N.Y.) had Bridgeport's other marker versus Molloy.
Dewey Schoenfelder (Jr., Mt. Airy, Md.) and Nick Whelan (Sr., Rockville Centre, N.Y.) each had an assist for UB on the day.
Up next, the UB men's lacrosse team will host D'Youville University on Thursday afternoon at Knights Field. Face off is set for 4:00 p.m.
