Purple Knights Open CACC Men's Hoops Play With An 86-66 Road Win Over Post University
UB Will Return Home On Saturday To Host Bloomfield At 3 PM In Hubbell Gym
Waterbury, Conn.-The offense was in high gear for the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team on Wednesday night, as the Purple Knights never trailed in the game and snapped a two-game losing streak with a 20-point victory, 86-66, over the host Post University Eagles in the 2022-23 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener for both teams. UB is now 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the CACC; while Post falls to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Senior Malcolm Moye (Windsor, Conn.) led for UB players in double-digit scoring with a season-high 21 points, and he also grabbed seven rebounds on Wednesday night.
Moye was joined in double figures by classmates Ali Sumareh (Bronx. N.Y.), who poured in 14 points off the UB bench and Mason Williams (Voorhees, N.J.) who netted 13 points and pulled down seven boards.
Matt Turner (Grad., Trumbull, Conn.) rounded out the UB quartet in double-digit scoring with 11 points.
Junior D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) had a strong game for the Purple Knights finishing with nine points and seven rebounds in the Battle of Route 8.
Bridgeport raced out to a 41-32 lead at the half and outscored the hosts 45-34 over the final 20 minutes of play.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will host Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon as part of a doubleheader with the women's team at 3:00 p.m. in a CACC tilt.
