Purple Knights Net A Season-High 113 Points To Run Winning Streak To 15 With Home Triumph Over Roberts Wesleyan
UB Tops The Redhawks, 113-86
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team rolled to its fifteenth straight win, as the Purple Knights scored a season-high in points, as UB defeated the visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks, 113-86, in an East Coast Conference game on Sunday afternoon. Bridgeport is now 19-2 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 11-0. RWC falls to 3-19 overall and is 0-11 in the ECC.
13 of the 14 players that saw action for the Purple Knights scored on Sunday, and no one saw more than 23 minutes of playing time, as the team topped the century mark for the fourth time this season, cashing in 30 Roberts Wesleyan turnovers for a total of 44 points.
Senior Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) led five UB players in double figures with 20 points hitting 10-of-13 field goals, and he also grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
Classmate Jose Pabon-Sanchez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) netted a season-high 16 points, as he knocked down four three-point shots. Pabon-Sanchez was also outstanding on defense notching seven steals.
Junior Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) scored 12 points for the winners on Sunday, and senior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) and sophomore Ali Sumareh (Bronx, N.Y.) each finished with 11 points.
Trumbo had a fine all-around game dishing off seven assists, grabbing five boards, notching three steals plus blocking one shot. Sumareh went a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, including hitting his only three-point shot of the afternoon reaching his career high.
Up next, the Bridgeport men's basketball team will open a three-game road trip at the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, February 15. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
