Five Players Reach Double-Digit Scoring As Men's Basketball Moves To 6-2 On The Season With Road Win Over AIC
Purple Knights Top The Yellow Jackets, 87-83
Springfield. Mass.-Five players reached double-digit scoring on Saturday afternoon, as the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team upped its season record to 6-2 with an 87-83 road win over the host American International College Yellow Jackets in a non-conference tussle. With the loss, AIC is 4-7 on the season.
The Purple Knights held a commanding 81-58 lead with 4:56 to play in the game only to see the Yellow Jackets finish the contest on a 25-6 run to make the game interesting.
Junior Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) led UB in scoring on Saturday with 17 points. He was joined in double figures by classmate Hashem Abbas (Nablus, Palestine) with 16 points, senior D'Vonne Trumbo(Pilesgrove, N.J.) had 13 points and five assists plus senior Bakary Camara (Harlem. N.Y.) and junior Nemanja Zubac (Becka Palanka, Serbia), each had 10 points. Zubac fell just shy of a double-double grabbing a game-high nine rebounds for the winners.
Shyheim Hicks led five Yellow Jackets in double figures with 16 points.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will be on the road again at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire on Wednesday afternoon. Game time in the Granite State is slated for 4:30 p.m.
