Second Half Rally Falls Just Short For UB Men's Hoops Versus Post University
Purple Knights Now 1-1 After 90-87 Loss To The Eagles
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team trailed by as many as 18 points late in the first half, but staged a second half rally that came up just short, as the host Purple Knights fell to the visiting Post University Eagles, 90-87, in the final game of the 2019 UB Men's Basketball Classic.
Bridgeport cut the Post led to only one point, 88-87, with 48 seconds to play after a three-point basket by junior Nemanja Zubac (Becka Palanka, Serbia), who finished tied for the team lead in scoring on the afternoon with senior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) as the each netted 19 points, but UB could pull no closer.
Bridgeport is now 1-1 on the young 2019-20 season; while Post moves to 2-0.
Seniors Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) with 16 points and John Middleton (Atlantic City, N.J.) with 10 points, also finished in double-digit scoring for the Purple Knights.
Along with his 19 points, Trumbo also dished of a game-high seven assists on the afternoon.
D.J. Jarrett led five Post players in double figures with a game-high 27 points.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will wrap up its season-opening, three-game homestand on Wednesday, November with a non-conference game versus Bentley University. Tip time in Hubbell Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
