Sophomore Travis Robinson-Morgan Leads Five UB Players In Double Figures With 18 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.- The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team opened its 2018-19 East Coast Conference schedule at home on women's Wednesday night in Hubbell Gym with a hard-fought, 88-72, win over the visiting University of the District of Columbia Firebirds. With the win, the Purple Knights are now 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the ECC. UDC is now 5-3 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
Bridgeport trailed 39-34 at the half but rallied to outscore the visitors 54-33 during the second stanza of action.
Sophomore Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) led five UB players in double-digit scoring with 18 points, as he connected on 4-of-6 three-pointers.
Robinson-Morgan was joined in double figures by junior John Middleton (Atlantic City, N.J.) with 17 points, senior Vakas Iqbal (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 16, junior Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) with 11 and freshman Jayden Iturmendi (York, Pa.) chipped in 10 points.
UB sophomore Hashem Abbas (Nablus, Palestine) fell just shy of a double-double on the night with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
UDC's Juanye Colon led all scorers in the game with 20 points.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will travel to St. Thomas Aquinas for and East Coast Conference showdown on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
