UB Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Ruane Hits Milestone As Team Earns Win In Regular Season Finale.
Queens, N.Y.- The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team finished up their regular season with a 114-85 win over host Queens College (N.Y.). The Purple Knights finish out their regular season 24–4 overall and 17–1 in ECC play. The Queens College Knights end their 2017-2018 season with a 9–16 record overall and a 7–11 record in ECC play. The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team extends their win streak to 15 to finish out regular season play.
With this win Purple Knights' head coach Mike Ruane earns his 350th win as the leader of the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team.
Junior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) had a double-double for the winners, contributing 12 points and dishing out 11 assists. Trumbo also grabbed four rebounds and had three steals.
Senior Sharif Cobb (Harlem, N.Y.) and sophomore Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with 14 points on the night. Camara also picked up eight rebounds for the winners.
Senior Marc Campbell (Elmott, N.Y.) and senior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each had 12 points for the Purple Knights. Campbell contributed on the defensive end with six rebounds.
The Purple Knights have earned the number one seed and a first round bye in the East Coast Conference Tournament and will be back on the court in the ECC semi-finals on Saturday March 3rd at Roberts Wesleyan College. Tip off is set for 5:00 pm and the opponent is still to be determined.
