Sam Joseph Named ECC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week For the Second Time This Season
Senior Averaged 21.0 Points And 5.0 Rebounds And Added Nine Steals Last Week
West Babylon, N.Y.-For the second time this season, University of Bridgeport senior guard Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been selected as the East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding play in games that took place from January 29 through February 4, 2018.
Joseph helped UB run its winning streak to 10 games by averaging 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in wins over LIU Post and NYIT last week. Sam, who shot 57.7 percent from the floor (15-of-26) and hit 5-of-11 three-point shots, also chipped in nine steals and three assists on the week. In the Purple Knights' win over LIU Post, he netted 18 points, grabbed three rebounds and had five steals. In Saturday's win at NYIT, Joseph scored 24 points with seven rebounds and four steals. On the season, Sam leads Bridgeport in scoring averaging 15.1 points per outing, and he is also the team leader in steals with 49.
He also was selected as the ECC Men's Basketball Player of the Week on January 8, 2018.
This week, Joseph and his Bridgeport teammates host the University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m. and travel to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday afternoon.
