Men's Basketball Holds On For 90-84 Road Win Over Pesky Molloy On Wednesday Night
Purple Knights Now 13-4 Overall And 6-1 In Conference Play
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team picked up its fourth straight win on Wednesday night, as the Purple Knights overcame a pesky Molloy College Lions team on the road, 90-84, in East Coast Conference action. UB is now 13-4 overall and moves to 6-1 in conference play. Molloy slips to 3-13 overall, and the Lions are now 2-4 in the ECC.
Senior Sharif Cobb (Harlem, N.Y.) led four UB players in double figures with 18 points on the night. Cobb was joined in double-digits by freshman Hashem Abbas (Nahlus, Palestine), who scored 17 off the Bridgeport bench, sophomore Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) with 15 points, and junior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) added 10 points and six assists for the winners.
Purple Knights' senior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished just shy of a double-double on the night with eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Molloy's Curtis Jenkins led all scorers on the night with 25 points.
The UB men's basketball team is back in action at home on Saturday afternoon when they will look to run their winning streak to five, as the Purple Knights host Queens (N.Y.) College in an East Coast Conference contest. Tip-off in Hubbell Gym is set for 3:00 p.m.
