Offense Back In High Gear As Men's Hoops Sprints Past UDC With A 109-89 Victory
Six Purple Knights Reach Double Figures On The Night
Washington, D.C.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team got its offense back on track on Wednesday night at the University of the District of Columbia, as the Purple Knights had six player reach double figures in an impressive 109-89 East Coast Conference victory. UB is now 11-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play. UDC slips to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in the ECC. Wednesday night also marked the fourth time this season that Bridgeport has scored at least 100 points in a game.
Senior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights and all scorers on the night with 24 points.
Joseph was joined in double-digit scoring by classmate Sharif Cobb (Harlem, N.Y,) with 13 points, sophomore Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) and freshman Yasir Lawrence (Elmont, N.Y.) with 12 points apiece and junior Vakas Iqbal (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman Hashem Abbas (Nahlus, Palestine) rounded out the Purple Knights in double figures, as the each netted 10 points.
Junior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) led the winners on the glass with nine rebounds.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will host St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon for a key ECC contest in Hubbell Gym. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
