Late Run Lifts Men's Basketball To An 84-72 Home Win Over Daemen
Purple Knights Outscore The Wildcats 15-2 Over The Game's Final 3:42 Of Action
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team got back in the win column on Sunday afternoon with an 84-72 East Coast Conference home triumph over the visiting Daemen College Wildcats. UB is now 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the ECC. Damen is now an even 5-5 overall and slips to 1-2 in conference action.
Trailing 70-67 with 3:42 to play, the Purple Knights closed the game out on a 15-2 run to pick up the victory.
Freshman Hashem Abbas (Nahlus, Palestine) led the Purple Knights in scoring netting 17 points of the bench in 19 minutes played, as he connected on seven-of-nine field goals on the day.
Abbas was joined in double-digit scoring senior Sharif Cobb (Harlem, N.Y.) with 16 points, junior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) with 12 points and senior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) Chipped in 10 points for the winners.
Daemen's Deion Hamilton led all scorers on the afternoon with 21 points.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team travel to Manchester, N.H. on Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference tussle versus St. Anselm College. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 p.m.
