UB Men's Hoops Back In The Win Column With 89-71 Victory At AIC
Hot-Shooting Sharif Cobb Leads Bridgeport With Game-High 22 Points
Springfield, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team got back in the win column today after suffering the team's first loss of the season last Sunday at Jefferson University with an 89-71 road win over the host American International College Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 6-1 on the season. With the loss, AIC is now 4-2 overall.
UB senior Sharif Cobb (Harlem, N.Y.) led all scorers of the afternoon with a game-high 22 points. Cobb was red-hot from the floor all game long connecting on 10-of-13 field goals, including going 2-of-3 from behind the three-point arc.
Sharif was joined in double figures by juniors Dennis Green (Bronx, N.Y.) and Eric Rankin (Bronx. N.Y.), who each contributed 13 points off the UB bench, and sophomore Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.), who chipped in 10 points for the winners. Rankin and Camara also each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for the Purple Knights.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will wrap up a stretch of six games away from Hubbell Gym when the Purple Knights open up 2017-18 East Coast Conference play on Wednesday night when they travel to LIU Post. Game time on Long Island is slated for 7:00 p.m.
