Buzzer Beater Tops UB Men's Hoops In Regular Season Finale At UDC, 70-67
Purple Knights Will Now Host Queens On Wednesday Night In ECC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals
Washington, D.C.-A three-point basket by the University of the District of Columbia's Kahil Jackson with .8 seconds to play in regulation lifted the host Firebirds to a 70-67 East Coast Conference win over the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon in our Nation's Capital. Jackson's game-winner spoiled a big comeback by UB, as the visitors trailed 60-50 with 10:14 to play but railed to grab a three-point, 67-64, with 1:24 to play before UDC closed the game out on a 6-0 run for the victory. The loss also knocks Bridgeport out of bye into the 2017 East Coast Conference Champions Tournament semifinals, and UB must now host Queens (N.Y.) College at 7:00 p.m. in a conference quarterfinal game on Wednesday night in Hubbell Gym pitting the three-seed, Bridgeport, versus the six-seed QC. The Purple Knights finish the 2016-17 regular season at 17-11 overall and 12-6 in conference play. UDC is now 14-12 overall and 11-7 in conference play, as the Firebirds will also advance to the 2017 ECC Championship Tournament.
