Four Reach Double-Digit Scoring As UB Men's Hoops Defeats Molloy, 90-79
Purple Knights have Now Won Four In A Row And Eight Of Their Last Nine games
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team extended their winning streak to four games as they defeated the visiting Molloy College Lions, 90-79, at Bridgeport's Harvey Hubbell Gym on Saturday afternoon. Bridgeport improves their record to 15-9 overall and 10-4 in the ECC while Molloy drops to 13-10 overall and 9-5 in conference play.
The Purple Knights established a new season-high of 24 team assists on 35 made baskets from the field, including going 11-of-24 from distance.
Senior Stefano Osuji (Voorhees, N.J.) posted his first double-double of the season with 18 points on 7-of-11 from the floor and 11 rebounds. Classmate Kyle Benjamin (Bronx, N.Y.) also posted 18 points along with tying his season high of seven blocks.
Bridgeport junior Carlos DeJesus (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in with 17 points on 7-of-14 from the field while Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) completed the quartet of double-digit scorers with 15 points.
Sophomore D'Vonne Trumbo (Franklinville, N.J) helped pace the offense with nine assists in addition to his nine points and five rebounds.
Molloy's Nick Corbett posted a game-high 29 points as he was one of four Lions' with double-digit point efforts on the day.
The UB men's basketball team continues its ECC slate on Wednesday, February 15 as they travel to Queens College. Tip time at the Fitzgerald Gymnasium is set for 6:00 p.m.
