Five Players Reach Double-Digit Scoring As Men's Basketball Defeats LIU Post, 79-61, To Get Back In Win Column
Sophomore D'Vonne Trumbo Nearly Posts A Triple-Double With 12 Points, 10 Rebounds And Eight Assists
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team led from start to finish on Wednesday, as the visiting Purple Knights got back in the win column and stopped a six-game losing streak with a 79-61 East Coast Conference road win over the host LIU Post Pioneers. Bridgeport is now an even 8-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play. LIUP slips to 5-11 overall and 4-3 in the ECC.
It was balanced team effort for the victors on Wednesday, as five UB players reached double-figure scoring led by junior Carlos DeJesus (Bronx, N.Y.), who netted 17 points.
DeJesus was joined in double digits by senior Stefano Osuji (Voorhees, N.J.) with 14 points, junior Sam Joseph (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 13 points, sophomore D'Vonne Trumbo (Franklinville, N.J.) with 12 points and sophomore Rakim Lesane (Coney Island, N.Y.) with 10 points.
Trumbo nearly finished with a triple-double in the win, as he led Bridgeport on the glass with 10 rebounds and dished out eight assists.
Senior Kyle Benjamin (Bronx. N.Y.) had a solid all-around game on Wednesday scoring eight points and pulling down seven rebounds.
LIU Post's Greg Dotson led all scorers on the night with 19 points.
The UB men's basketball team will return to the court in one week, on Wednesday, January 18, when the Purple Knights host the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds in an East Coast Conference contest. Game time in Hubbell Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
